I'm Rey Alejandro — 7 years into designing digital products that people actually want to use. Currently Lead Designer at Dock.io.
I believe great design starts with understanding the problem and listening to real people, not perfecting aesthetics. This approach helped me design experiences for 42Race and Kalibrr, both achieving 4.5⭐️ ratings by focusing on what people actually need.
Here are some of my recent works
I handle all things design at Dock—from product user experience to marketing and branding. The tricky part is making verifiable credential technology (think digital ID cards) feel simple and trustworthy, whether you're using our mobile wallet, our Truvera web application or just visiting our website.
Designed Rocket.chat's omnichannel platform—the challenge was making live chat, video calls, email, and canned responses work together seamlessly. I researched how support teams actually work, tested constantly, and designed experiences that made multi-channel communication feel effortless.
Led design for Singapore's leading fitness startup—the goal was getting people excited about staying active through virtual events and challenges. I designed the complete experience across iOS, Android, and web, spending lots of time talking to users to understand what actually motivates people to exercise.
The fun part was applying game design thinking—social challenges, competitions, achievement badges, progress tracking. Basically making fitness feel less like work and more like play. The result? 4.5★ ratings because people actually enjoyed using it.
Also handled the complete rebrand including logo, style guide, and design system. The challenge was creating a visual identity that felt energetic and motivating without being intimidating—we wanted everyone to feel welcome, not just hardcore athletes. Developed a brand that balanced playfulness with credibility, which helped position 42Race as the approachable fitness platform in Singapore's competitive market.
This app started only last year and has offered the user plenty to look forward to. The team has been very customer focused. They took my feedback seriously and worked tirelessly to evolve.
The app today has improved significantly since it launched. I’m looking forward to more virtual runs organised by 42race and see more connections between users around the world!
KalibrrDesigned the complete job search experience for the first Y-Combinator startup from the Philippines. Kalibrr uses AI to help millions of job seekers find their dream jobs—my challenge was designing the entire user journey from browsing positions to actually getting hired.
Led design across web, Android, and iOS, spending lots of time talking to job seekers to understand their frustrations with traditional job hunting. Turns out people hate feeling like their applications disappear into a black hole, so we designed transparency into every step of the process.
The interesting part was balancing what job seekers wanted (clear feedback, direct employer contact) with what companies needed (quality candidates, efficient screening). Lots of user interviews and testing to get both sides happy with the experience.
Looking for jobs made easy. The features that enables you to contact the employers directly and be able to see the status of your application is it's edge among others. Highly recommended.
